Australia’s electric vehicle policy a ‘big step forward’, industry says

Australia’s Federal Labor wants half of all new cars sold in the country within a decade to be electric vehicles — it’s part of Labor’s policy to reduce emissions by 45 per cent by 2030.

Labor’s policy is in contrast to the Morrison Government, which says it won’t release its national electric vehicle strategy until the middle of next year.

Mark Butler, the Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Energy in Australia says that compared to the rest of the world, Australia is at the back of the pack.
