Customs official faces fraud and corruption charges

A forty-five-year-old South African Revenue Services Customs official who works at the Cape Town International Airport appeared at the Worcester Magistrates court for allegedly demanding a bribe.

The official was arrested in Worcester and charged with fraud and corruption.

Police spokesperson, Captain Frederick van Wyk says he demanded a ten thousand rand bribe from a traveller who complained about paying too much tax duties on items he had bought while overseas.
