No.8 seed Elina Svitolina was all smiles during her post-match press conference after overcoming Karolina Muchova at Wimbledon on Tuesday.
Svitolina became the first Ukrainian woman to reach the last four of a slam after recording a 7-5, 6-4 win over Muchova on No. 1 Court.
Former World No. 1 Simona Halep is next up for the eighth seed in a repeat of the 2017 French Open quarterfinal which the Romanian won 3-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-0.
After twice reaching the last eight at each of the Australian Open and French Opens, the Ukrainian No.1 battled from a 5-2 deficit in the opening set, but ultimately needed to will herself over the line in 91 minutes to become the first player from her country to make a Grand Slam semifinal.
Svitolina said she was happy with the match adding that she used Muchova’s fatigue from the previous round to her advantage.
